YouthfulNest is all about saving mom time and money so when we learned of Little List we knew we would be fast friends.  We loved how clean and user friendly their site was, they make it easy for you to see and find the best product deals and learn about new product must-haves.

They aren't trying to be all things to all women,  just focused on being a stellar resource for what savvy moms with babies and young children are looking for – shopping inspiration and steals on quality products. Need I say more? No, but we did ask Little List co-founder, Liz Lentis, to give us the 411 on her company, her life as a Momprenure and her latest, favorite must-haves for mom and mom-to-be.

Q&A WITH CO-FOUNDER OF LITTLE LIST LIZ LENTIS
'The real deal'

q: How did you Meet your Co-founder,
Lia Littlewood?

A: We met our freshman year at Villanova in Computer Science class.  We became fast friends and joined the same sorority.  We had so much in common but bonded most over the fact that we loved the thrill of discovering new brands and finding (and sharing) a great deal more than anyone else we knew.  We also shared our aspirations for becoming entrepreneurs early on in college.

q: Where were you and what were you doing when you decided to create Little List?

A: One of the coolest parts of the story is that we had our first babies two days apart (unplanned timing!) and both girls!  So, we were very fortunate to go through our pregnancies together and then maternity leave. While on maternity leave, we started brainstorming ideas to start a business.  It seemed like the perfect timing – we had more free time (as newborns do sleep a lot) and also a new purpose (our daughters) to create a company that could provide a more flexible working arrangement.  We went through many (MANY) ideas, and soon realized we weren’t looking at the most obvious idea – the one that truly lied with our long-time passions (one that wasn’t currently being done): creating a site that aggregates top products for moms and families at a good value without sacrificing quality or style.  We understood how overwhelming it was to be a first-time mom… not knowing which things we needed (and which we didn’t)… and of course, we have always loved a great deal!

q: What is your site’s main goal?

A: Little List aims to help moms discover the products and services that are most important for raising their families, while also taking care of themselves.  As a trusted source, we cut through the clutter and only recommend high quality and top rated products at good values to our community of moms.  By offering great values and inspiration, we provide immediate access to essential products for moms.

Q: What is it that users love about Little List that other baby and mom sites don’t offer?

A: We aim to stay focused on our mission, while offering a clutter-free and focused user experience for moms.  We realize first-hand that moms are most pressed for two valuable resources: time and money.  [The majority of] Moms don’t have the time to search countless sites filled with junk and clutter to find quality items or learn about new products.  Moms look for inspiration to make product decisions quicker (which is also favorable to brands) and appreciate a ‘one stop shop’ that they can trust.  We also aim to inspire moms by showcasing new products and services that we’ve tried and tested.

q: What special new items for baby or mom you love and seeing moms responding excited too?

A: It’s been fascinating seeing so many new products and services being introduced to the market… so many new ones over the past few years!  Mompreneurs are certainly clever!  We see a lot of excitement about products that can be used for longer periods of time, i.e. ones that grow with the child.  Some examples include:
Joovy - Tricycoo
SkipHop - 3 stage Activity Center
Aden + Anais - Maternity Nursing Pillow
Also, anything that can help babies (and mamas!!) sleep better:
DockATot - Docking System
Halo - Bassinest

AND anything that is REALLY good deal. We see huge engagement when brands can offer an excellent deal for our readers – usually this starts at 30% but is dependent on the product/service and timing.  Flash sales get even higher engagement – i.e. offering 50% or more for a limited time.  It’s a combination of the ‘thrill of the deal’ and also less risk to trying something new.

DOCKATOT - DOCKING SYSTEM
SKIP HOP - THREE STAGE ACTIVITY CENTER

Q: What are your own personal design aesthetics and how do they translate into your kids’ spaces?

A: I’m learning that my style is ever-evolving.  Things I thought I would like before having kids have totally changed since having kids.  I tend to lean mostly to classic style that has a calming effect.  My daughter’s nursery is painted in my favorite color (lavender) and has grey furniture and whimsical accents.  It feels like a child’s room but also is a room I truly enjoy being in as an adult.

Q: Who is your “go-to” home furnishing or décor brand when looking for pieces for the kids spaces?

A: I could look at Restoration Hardware’s website (or showroom or catalog) for hours.  However, I don’t have an unlimited budget.  I enjoy taking quality pieces we’ve had for years and sprucing them up with some great new finds (some splurges and some saves).  Homegoods has some awesome accents that I wouldn’t have been able to find elsewhere, for example.  I also love Pottery Barn Kids.  Land of Nod has an awesome and inspirational style as well.  I have found some awesome ‘copycat’ items on places like Overstock.com and RueLaLa… and Amazon even!

Q: Do you have a social media style crush and/or favorite blog?

A: Ever-evolving!  I love following fashion bloggers like Something Navy, Styled Snapshots, and Pink Peonies on Instagram – it’s so fun that many of the fashion bloggers I’ve been following for awhile are now becoming moms, so you see how their style evolves (and for their littles).  I have a ton of respect for fashion bloggers who are moms… it’s a ton of work.

q: As moms who are working and raising children - how do you find peace with the quality time you spend on each, work and life? Or are they one in the same?

A: I recently resigned from my very demanding full-time career in consulting sales (as a VP) to focus more on being a mom.  I now work part-time in a family business aside from Little List.  So, I’m getting a ton of quality time with my daughter, which is amazing, but a little less ‘peace and quiet’ and a lot more juggling (I no longer have a nanny or regular childcare).  I used to have the time to run out to a quick barre or yoga class, but now my exercise is often a walk to the park with my daughter.  My work is done before she wakes up, when she naps (if she does), and at night.  Admittedly, the TV is there as a babysitter if I need a quick 30 minutes to do something, but I’m not a big fan of the TV.  My husband travels a ton so a lot falls on me. It’s amazing and I wouldn’t have it any other way, but yes, an adjustment for sure!

q: I had a friend who once asked, “How cool would it be if music followed you around like it did in the movies!” What songs would your work day soundtrack include?

A: Lately, it’d be the Disney Pandora station or the Trolls Soundtrack.  We also listen to Laurie Berkner a lot!  I love music and my tastes are incredibly far-reaching, so I would say that it’s dependent on the day!

q: What's next for Little List ?

A: Surprise!  We are both expecting in Summer 2017 (again, something we both found out after the fact… and this time about 9 weeks apart).  We are so excited to try out the new baby products and services and are working on some very exciting collaborations and little lists on our blog.  Perhaps the most exciting is the big nursery redesign and reveal that we are doing with YouthfulNest… in which we will be completely transforming a pink bedroom into a neutral nursery for a baby boy… with some fabulous brands!
