Nothing could be more true when it comes to creating amazing décor and furniture pieces from unwanted or extra materials that we have found out junk yards, vintage shops and one of our all-time favorite haunts, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. I've purchased so many things for my own DIY upcycle projects including quality paints, wood trim, honeycomb blinds, etc. And I have also brought in my old appliances, furniture and hardware to donate. If you've never heard of the ReStore look it up, like right now. There are over 900 in 49 states across the country. I've personally donated and purchased from the stores in Charlotte, NC and here in Omaha, NE. For now here is some inspiration from us for the types of projects to consider doing for your baby nursery or kids bedroom. They are each custom designed to work perfectly with a room design and cost a fraction of the price of store bought items. 1. Rustic Mirror

Depending where you live, your summer fun is over and your kids have or will be heading back-to-school soon. As a mom myself, I am excited for my son to start kindergarten and simply hoping he can avoid using the word “poopy” in front of the teachers. Yes, he is only five and his maturity level isn’t quite there. I got to know another mom who is doing a double-take of her young son who will attend preschool this fall. Jeannine Benoit Adams, is the mother to Ethan a beautiful and spirited four year old. He is also now a big brother to a baby brother who joined the family just this past July. Those are both big responsibilities and some new life skills are on the horizon for him this year. To get Ethan ready for the school year and his new role as big brother mom and dad called upon YouthfulNest to hook him up with a big boy bedroom of his very own. Not all mama birds need our help designing a youthful nest. In fact, it was rather clear from our first conversations that Ashley had amazing design vision and style. It was about one year ago that we met and I learned that she was managing all the design decisions for a home they were building. She passionately spoke about finishes and layouts. While it was obvious Ashley wouldn't become a YouthfulNest client, I knew I needed to find a way to collaborate with her. We decided that her writing for our blog would be one of those ways – a win for us and our readers. Today she shares a peek into a very special room in her new home, her daughter Ever's new big girl bedroom. GUSSHHH! - Lisa Janvrin, owner YouthfulNest |
